S/4HANA 2023 to 2025: what changed
A release upgrade is not a conversion. The structural work — Business Partner, the Universal Journal, New Asset Accounting — is already behind you. What matters now is narrower and easier to miss: the transactions that disappeared, the apps that quietly went deprecated, and the capabilities you are entitled to but are not yet using.
82 documented changes on this journey
Drawn line by line from SAP's What's New guides for the 2025 release — 12 cite an SAP Note, spanning 9 lines of business. Every entry keeps SAP's own wording for its change type, so a qualifier like “also available in 2023 FPS02” is never flattened away — if you may already have it on 2023, the entry says so.

The older ISLM scenario for intelligent journal-entry upload is deprecated in favour of the new FIN_INTLGNT_JRNLUPLD scenario used by AI-Assisted Journal Upload.
What it means: Existing ISLM scenario configuration and S_ISM_INFR authorizations must be re-pointed to FIN_INTLGNT_JRNLUPLD.

Why the clock matters
Both releases fall under SAP's seven-year maintenance policy, so this is a planning decision rather than a deadline scramble — the target you pick sets your next upgrade date.
| Release | Mainstream maintenance ends | Status today |
|---|---|---|
| S/4HANA 2023 | Dec 2030 | 4+ years |
| S/4HANA 2025 | Dec 2032 | 6+ years |
